Coming out of the closet BAGLS (Bi-sexual and Gay Lesbian Services was started in the Fall of 1988, amidst a great deal of controversy. Yet despite this, BAGLS members have been involved in such activities as: bringing openly gay city council member Brian Coyle to campus; having lesbian Rev. Arlene Hackerman speak in chapel; and holding monthly forums in the college center. Also, on a more personal side, the BAGLS members have got- ten together for socializing, washing member's spray painted cars; reviewing daily death threats; harassing President **Chuck’’ Anderson, and coming up with new ways to subvert good, straight Christians. 26

One of our goals is fo continue the mission of Augsburg which is to help students understand the Christian faith as relevant to their own experience. Since we are all active participants in religious activities we serve as an identifiable means of religious life at Augsburg. We believe that we provide a nu- cleus for a strong Christian community on cam- pus. We want to make it provide and establish a good reputation for the college. We are willing to try and build on the religious life aspect of the college. Our activities are geared toward cam- pus and community events. Some of them in- clude leading Eucharist, hosting aKCMR show, so- cial events and volunteering at Our Savior’s Homeless Shelter. Through these activities we hope to profess and share with others our faith in Christ. Top-Bottom: Cara Asche, Paula Brusacoram, Tricia Noha, Beth Lahti, Dianne Holland, Karen Strom 33
